PS150Q – Sunnyside, Queens, NYC
PS150Q, located in Sunnyside, Queens, had long faced significant water infiltration issues that affected both the building’s structure and its interior spaces. As part of a comprehensive renovation effort, Litehouse Builders led a project focused on resolving these challenges and strengthening the building’s overall integrity and functionality, ensuring it can continue to serve the Sunnyside community for many years to come.
The scope of work included the full replacement of the parapet, which had been a major source of water infiltration, as well as a complete reconstruction of the roof slab, which had deteriorated to the point of posing a structural risk. A new, reinforced roof slab was installed to restore the building’s stability and prevent future water‑related issues.
The entire 4th floor underwent a full interior renovation, including new flooring, new ceilings, and a complete repainting of all spaces. New whiteboards were installed in classrooms to enhance the learning environment. A new roofing system was also installed, complete with new roof drains to improve water management and prevent further damage. Additionally, new rooftop units (RTUs) were added to provide consistent heating and cooling throughout the year, ensuring a comfortable environment for students and staff.
The building’s exterior was revitalized through the replacement of face brick on multiple elevations, incorporating new terra cotta stones to improve both the durability and aesthetic appeal of the façade.
With these extensive upgrades, PS150Q is now better equipped to serve the community, offering a safe, functional, and resilient educational environment for years to come.
