PS97Q Forest Park School – Queens, NYC
As the general contractor for the exterior and interior modernization of PS97Q Forest Park School in Queens, we executed a comprehensive renovation to enhance both the building’s structural integrity and its overall functionality. This project, performed on behalf of the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA), revitalized the school’s facilities and ensured a safe, comfortable learning environment for students and staff.
The exterior scope included the full replacement of the corner face brick along the façade from grade to roof, restoring the building’s appearance and ensuring long‑term durability. New flashings were installed beneath the coping stones, along with new cap flashing, to protect the structure from water infiltration and extend the life of the roof system.
As part of the roofing upgrades, a new roof assembly was installed across all roof sections, improving performance and energy efficiency. New exhaust fans with copper duct housings were added to increase durability and enhance the system’s appearance. To further improve climate control and energy efficiency, five new rooftop units (RTUs) were installed, providing reliable heating and cooling for the school. Additional roof drains were also installed to ensure proper water runoff and prevent future water‑related damage.
Inside the building, interior painting and plastering were completed in rooms previously affected by water infiltration, restoring these spaces to optimal condition for daily use. These improvements ensure that the school remains a safe, functional, and inviting environment for students and staff.
With these comprehensive upgrades, PS97Q Forest Park School is now better equipped to serve the community with a modernized, efficient, and resilient facility built to stand the test of time.
